Summary: lots of power for battery apps
Comment: Fabulous. These are my first lithium ion battery powered tools and they are great. The discharge rates are amazing, the 1/2 drill has power like it is plugged in. (though I don't use it to mix up 5 gallons of drywall mud for glydwall) The batteries and the charger are just good. After they're charged there's no heat generated, and I think they may even have temperature regulation while charging, if I beat the batteries hard they don't charge that fast because they are hot? Other than that they are good Milwaukee tools like the others I'm used to. The one thing that seems like an afterthought is the tool belt holder clip, it has too fat a shoulder to fit blind in a belt.

Though it isn't this particular product I got my 1/2" drill at the HD during a special and received a sawzall free, I ordered the impact from here. The sawzall is okay, the trigger doesn't modulate very well and I don't like the angled blades, consequently always run them upside down.

Summary: not the same thing as picture
Comment: Please be advised that what you are looking at and what will be shipped to you are two different things! The hammer drill is NOT the heavy duty one and does NOT have the handle! I ordered this combo kit going by the picture and it's NOT the same hammer drill. I wrote to Amazon and they had UPS come to pick it up at my house and returned it at no cost to me. So as long as you know that this is the lighter duty hammer drill and doesn't come with the handle there is nothing wrong with it. Amazon needs to change their picture so others aren't deceived by it.

Summary: TOOLS 5* BATTERIES 2*
Comment: the milwaukee 18m impact driver and driver/hammer drill are as good as all the milwaukee tools but the biggest downturn of this kit is the batteries they suck if you recharge the battery and drill 6 holes 1/2 inch wide 1'1/2'' deep the battery will loose 1/4 of its power you can tell that by the lights in the batterie system itself i will go back to makita power drills!!!

Summary: This is the Milwaukee 6202-20 Hammer Drill (No Side Handle)
Comment: I don't want to post a review of the drill and impact driller yet because I haven't used them yet, but I want who ever buys this to know this is the 6202-20 Hammer Drill and it does not include the side handle attachment shown in 2 of the pictures. If you call and complain amazon will reimburse you if you purchase it somewhere else. You will need to buy the Side Handle Assembly (42-62-0525)from a parts website. Amazon needs to change their pictures so that no one else is mislead on this drill.

thanks,

Scott

Summary: in search of the ideal 18v Li-Ion drill/driver combo
Comment: I ve been looking long and hard for a full size battery combo set(3.0 aH not 1.5 or 2 aH) and settled on on a 218combo from Makita. Excitedly I opened it up and to my dismay the chuck wobbled like the first couple commenters on Amazoon said, the last post was FEB 2009, so I thought for sure the problem was corrected and found out it hasn't been, so, I sent it back within a couple hours due to way wobbly drill chuck and somewhat less wobbling impact. Big Disappointment.
I went through three boxes of this Milwaukee combo at the local Home Depot before finding one with minimal wobble, and while less wobble than my experience with the 218 Makita Combo, I am still not impressed with the qaulity of the chucks. The Milwaukee didnt quite feel like it had gripped the bit tight enough, but this may just be a new feature.
The Dewalt combo magically appeared next to the stack of Milwaukees, and it looks good but comes with only the smaller 2.0 amp compact batteries, so, I balked again. And, the batteries in the Dewalt need charging first so I could not test for runout. SO many choices out there. It must be that the chucks for many drills are made at the same place/co.?
I've spent considerable time wading through the internet reviews and offers, and visiting stores and still haven't been convinced enough to have bought a set, though this one seems pretty good, esp the specs. The LED is not in the best position on the drill unit, it should have been mounted a little lower and then angled up slightly. But so far this Milwaukee combo is in the top three. I'd still like to run the Dewalt combo and may return to H Depot and ask them to provide a working battery or no sale. Or...??

I sure would like a really comprehensive review of all these combos with some special attention paid to the chuck.
When a $379 shipped Makita has an 1/8th runout on a fairly short bit it is not good for acciracy or confidence in the rest of the tool, at least to me.
The warranty is better on this unit than the Makita. No free battery though. The Dewalt and Hitachi need to be investgated 'hands-on' before I decide.
Now, I guess tomorrow I will go back to Lowe's and check for runout after tracking down someone to help me test the lil bugger.

And maybe someone can post their experience/s in finding the best combo, I will continue lookng until all criteria are met.
SO good luck, and HAPPY hunting!
