Summary: For the price... it is GREAT
Comment: I bought a Delta SM300 unit from Amazon in March 2008. It was just $99 with free SuperSaving shipping, and no sales tax, a great price for a solid bench drill press. Most of the parts are cast iron or machined steel. The unit runs smoothly with very minimal vibration. Nice accurate holes every time. I have only two minor complaints. The cardboard shipping box is not really strong enough for this drill press. The heavy parts shifted in transit and broke a small 1/4 piece of plastic off of the back of the pulley cover. I just glued it back on, but still it was an annoyance. The other complaint is that the motor seems to have a very slight "hot oil" smell after 20 minutes of continuance use. Overall, I am very pleased with this drill press. I have a larger floor model at work, but for my home use, this bench top unit is great.

Comment: I just received my Delta sm300 drill press. The instructions were simple and assembly took around 1 hr, incliding opening up the box. It works like a charm and really looks good.

Comment: Purchase was painless and had a large array of reviews to help in selection process. Assembly was simple with easy to follow instrustions. I did take the liberty of lubricating moving parts as assembly progressed. There is a Worm-Gear that is not easily accessed after assembly that should see grease. The Drill Press works very well and is better than expected for the price. Delta provides useful RPM Tables based on materials that saves alot of guess work and burnt bits. Don't expect to drill holes in Plate Steel all day but for a mostly part time mechanic this little Drill Press was a good addition.

Comment: I bought this for my father-in-law for Christmas, I only opened the box when it arrived & looked it over to make sure it was all there & not damaged in shipment (all was fine). It appears to be a very nice drill press for the price. I would give it a higher rating but unfortunately its made in China (which I knew it would be for the price but to the best of my knowledge there are 0 manufacturers of bench top drill presses in the US otherwise I would have paid more & bought it!).
